BURLEYTOYS
Business opened in the 1930's by Lt.-Col. Aldwin Montgomery Munby (1882-1939) and Mr. Claude Templeman Eaton (1879-1947), the factory being called "Noah's Ark" (The Ark). During the 2nd WW the site was taken over by the Ordnance Survey and never reopened as a toy factory, and the building was eventually demolished.
Chaplain the Rev. Peter Aldwin Munby RNVR HMS Penelope (1911-18th Feb 1944, only son of AM and EM Munby) is remembered on the Burley War Memorial Cross. HMS Penelope torpedoed off Anzio 18th Feb 1944.
