The first issue (No:1, Vol. 1) of The Burley Village Magazine was published in January 1967,
with a subscription price of 4/- (20p) per annum
Front cover changes (and the price!)
The front covers alternated between yellow and green each month from the first issue (except in 1968 only, when blue replaced green!).
From December 2007 onwards the December issues had red covers.

Special covers were used for the June 1977 issue (Silver Jubilee), July 2022 issue (Platinum Jubilee) and October 2022 issue (Death of QEII).

dated 18th November 1987:
A large ferret was found half eaten on Highcroft lawn. Most animals won't touch, let alone eat, a ferret so how and why had it been killed? Someone has lost a valuable animal. Can the mystery be solved?
It has been a wonderful year for "autumn Ladies tresses" orchids. I have had two large patches reported. These charming little white orchids got their name because little girls used to wear their hair in long corkscrew curls. The summer variety became extinct in the Forest before the war.

There are at least three comprehensive collections of The Burley Village Magazine dating from January 1967:
1. Held by the Burley Parish Council. 2. Held at the Christopher Tower Library, Lyndhurst (Hardcastle Collection).
3. The collection held by the Burley Heritage Trust/Historical Society.
